WIN Semiconductors Commences Volume Production at Fab C

Initial build-out of WIN’s newest wafer Fab is complete and process line has passed both internal and customer qualification. Second phase expansion underway to further increase wafer capacity.

Tao Yuan, Taiwan – May 23, 2016: WIN Semiconductors Corp. (TPEx:3105), the world’s largest pure-play compound semiconductor foundry, today announced it has started commercial 150-mm GaAs wafer production at its third factory location, Fab C. This new process line has passed both internal and external reliability qualification, and wafer production in support of customer demand has begun. This initial phase expansion adds approximately 3,000 wafers per month to WIN Semiconductors’ market leading GaAs production capacity. Anticipating future growth in wafer demand, a second phase capacity expansion of Fab C has started and is scheduled to come on-line by the end of 2016. This latest phase expansion will increase the total output of Fab C to 5,500 wafers per month.

WIN Semiconductors’ newest factory, Fab C, is housed in a seven-floor, 706,000 ft2 building located in Guishan, Taiwan. Two floors of this building have been fitted with clean rooms and equipment for GaAs MMIC production, epitaxial growth of compound semiconductors, as well as fabrication and test of optical devices. The remaining floor space will be outfitted and brought on-line based on market requirements and when fully built-out, Fab C will more than double WIN Semiconductors’ present manufacturing capacity.
