Taipei, Taiwan, November 25, 2003
-- WIN Semiconductors Corporation (WIN) has set another
standard for GaAs MMIC Foundry Industry by obtaining both
ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certifications. In addition to continuous
improvement in both technology development and volume production
capabilities, WIN has become the first, and only, GaAs manufacturer
in Taiwan to be qualified for these certifications. Dr.
C. S. Wu, President and CEO of WIN, will represent WIN to
receive both certificates from SGS Taiwan Ltd., the Yarsley
International Certification Services, today.
Published in 1996, ISO 14001 standard's objective is to
establish a coordinated framework of controls to manage
environmental protection and to form a formal and logical
basis for environmental management. OHSAS 18001 is a comprehensive
Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system
specification, designed to enable companies to control OH&S
risks and improve its performance by emphasizing legislative
& regulatory commitment and continual improvement.
"WIN is dedicated to manufacture innovation and technology
development to provide a superior compound semiconductor
device and integrated circuit manufacturing foundry service.
WIN was awarded QS-9000 and ISO9001 Quality certificates
last year," Dr. Wu pointed out, "now WIN has demonstrated
its support for industrial safety, environmental protection
and pollution prevention in balance with socioeconomic needs."
The receipt of these certifications confirms WIN's pledge
to pursue zero environmental pollution, zero safety violations,
zero health risk, a safe working environment and to protecting
employees against injury at work. In addition, WIN considers
that it bears an unequivocal responsibility to its customers,
shareholders, employees and the community to commit to legal
compliance, pollution prevention and continual improvement
in these areas. Beyond these requirements, WIN will continually
enhance its environmental management system to achieve further
improvements in environmental performance through a constant
pursuit of perfection by the employment of "Plan -
Do - Check - Act" cycles."
In 2002 WIN has entered volume production stage. Strategic
Alliances and Foundry service agreements has been reached
with several Design houses and IDMs. Consequently, in spite
of the current global slow down and market down turn, WIN's
revenue this year is expected to increase more than 300%
of last year's level. This demonstrates that WIN's technology,
quality system and production capability have set a model
for GaAs foundry services.
